A Friona man was killed Friday afternoon in a single-vehicle rollover accident in Parmer County.
The Texas Department of Public Safety said the accident occurred at about 12:17 p.m. when a westbound 1996 Mack truck right front tire blew out. The driver lost control causing the vehicle to overturn in a ditch north of U.S. Highway 60 two miles east of Bovina.
The driver, identified as Thomas Harry Hamilton, 78, was trapped inside the truck after it flipped 1 1/2 times.
Hamilton was pronounced dead at 1:25 p.m. at the Panhandle Regional Medical Center in Clovis, N.M. He was wearing a seatbelt, DPS said.
The victim’s next of kin have been notified.
