A major rollover crash Friday evening near Woodrow in Lubbock left one mother dead and her two children injured.

The accident happened just before 6 p.m. Friday evening on County Road 7900 about a mile west of Highway 87 and just south of FM 41.

Sanjuana Hernandez, 37, of Lubbock, was driving down CR 7900 in a 1997 Chevrolet pickup truck with two of her children when she veered off into the ditch, overcorrected and went off the other side of the roadway. The vehicle rolled onto its top in a nearby field.

Hernandez was ejected and was pronounced dead at the scene. Investigators believe she was not wearing her seatbelt.

Her 8-month-old baby and 14-year-old son were properly restrained in the vehicle. Both children were taken to University Medical Center with non-life threatening injuries.

DPS officials said the speed limit on that road is 60mph, but going that fast, combined with the bad condition of the dirt road could have contributed in the crash.
