Two Bastrop County residents died in a double fatal traffic crash in Bastrop County.

The accident happened just after 6 a.m. Friday morning on Highway 304, about 15 miles south of Bastrop.

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety, a northbound pickup truck driven by 38-year-old Ronnie Tumlinson crossed the center line and crashed head-on into a southbound Toyota Prius driven by 60-year-old Norine Douglas.

Both drivers died at the scene.  Neither was wearing a seat belt.

Douglas was a bi-lingual special education teacher at Red Rock Elementary.

DPS is still investigating to determine what caused Tumlinson to cross the middle lane.
