The Department of Public Safety is investigating an accident that killed a Utah man after the semi he was driving overturned in Reagan County Saturday night.

According to DPS, 40-year-old Roger Dale Taylor of Spanish Fork, Utah, was driving an 18-wheeler with a trailer owned by Premiere Trading & Transportation in Cushing, Oklahoma.

He was travelling west on Farm-to-Market Road 2600, transporting crude oil back to Cushing from Big Lake, when the crash happened at around 10 p.m. on the intersection of Ranch Road 33, just north of Big Lake.

Taylor was driving at an unsafe speed while attempting to make a turn on the intersection, causing the truck to turn over on its side.

Taylor was pronounced dead on the scene. He was reportedly not wearing a seat belt.

His body was taken to Nalley-Pickle & Welch Funeral Home in Big Spring.
