A McMullen County accident Monday morning that involved heavy trucks killed two drivers.

The fatal accident happened on July 30, 2012, shortly after 10 a.m. on Texas 72 about 10 miles east of Tilden, when a tractor-trailer rig veered across the centerline and hit two oncoming rigs.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the tractor-trailer rig’s driver, Ramiro Cavasos, 44, of Edinburg, and Robert Wayne Nabors, 61, of Como, who was driving a rig pulling a tanker, died at the scene.

The third driver, Claude Leach, 34, of Big Foot was being treated for internal injuries at University Hospital in San Antonio.

The heavy trucks are apparently related to the Eagle Ford Shale.
