Grammy-winning country-music singer Randy Travis was arrested late Tuesday near his hometown of Tioga, about 60 miles north of Dallas where the entertainer lives, after his Pontiac Trans Am veered off the roadway  and smashed into highway construction barriers.

The “He Walked on Water” singer was charged with driving while intoxicated and threatening law officers after the crash. At the time of his arrest, Travis was not wearing clothes and made threats to shoot and kill the troopers working the case. The singer refused sobriety tests so a blood specimen was taken, said Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Tom Vinger.

The 53-year-old singer was released from Grayson County Jail Wednesday on $21,500 bond. He walked out with facial bruises, no shoes, wearing scrubs and a University of Texas baseball cap.

A Travis representative refused to comment on the arrest.

It was the second Texas arrest this year for the singer who was charged with public intoxication in February after being spotted in a vehicle parked in front of a church in Sanger, 20 miles from Tioga.

He also has been involved in messy court proceedings in 2012 on his divorce with ex-wife, Elizabeth Travis. They were married for 19 years.
