Two people were killed in a major accident in Bossier Parish at around 3 p.m. Monday.
According to police, 17-year-old Kaitlin Smith was driving at an excessive speed heading South on Bellevue Road when she lost control of her 2001 Honda Odyssey in a curve. Smith crossed the center line when she struggled to re-enter the roadway and collided head-on with a 2003 Dodge Ram driven by 43-year-old Eddie La Croix.
Smith and La Croix were pronounced dead at the scene. Both drivers were wearing seatbelts.
Investigators said high-speed driving is believed to be a factor in the accident.
Toxicology test is pending and investigation is still on-going.
