A man is facing intoxication manslaughter charges after crashing into a pole, killing his passenger early Saturday.

The fatal wreck occurred at around 3 a.m. on the 100 block of Great Southwest Parkway.

Ismael Vasquez-Peralta, 60, of Arlington, was driving a Ford truck when he lost control and struck a pole. Vasquez-Peralta and his passenger were rushed to the Medical Center of Arlington, where his passenger was pronounced dead.

Vasquez-Peralta was treated and released. Authorities determined he was drunk at the time of the accident and was then arrested for intoxication manslaughter.

Authorities also have yet to release the identity of his passenger as they are awaiting notification of next-of-kin.
