Two men were killed in a two tractor-trailer crash early Tuesday along Texas 44, about 10 miles east of Interstate 35.

Texas Department of Public Safety spokesman Trooper Eliseo Ceja said authorities responded to a two-vehicle collision at about 3 a.m. on mile marker 446 of Texas 44.

A 2000 Kenwood tractor driven westbound by Laredo resident Gary Lleverino, 36, crossed into incoming traffic and collided with a 1997 tractor-truck driven by Javier Cruz, 47, of Encina.

The two drivers were killed in the wreck, Ceja said.

Cruz’s passenger, 44-year-old Juan Manuel Ramirez, survived the accident.
