Five Frenship Independent School District students were sent to the hospital after the bus they were in collided with another vehicle near Westwind Elementary Tuesday afternoon.

A spokesman for the school district said that at about 3:15 pm, the bus was in the bus lane near 45th Street and Milwaukee Avenue when it struck a red car.

Frenship officials called parents immediately after the crash. The children on the bus were accompanied by their parents to another bus being driven by another driver.

Officials reported that five students were hospitalized as a precaution.

No one was injured in the car.

9-year-old Serina Garcia was one of the children inside the bus involved in the accident. She saw the driver lean over to pick up a fallen broom before the crash happened.

Garcia complained that her head hurt after the crash and her parents planned to take Serina to a hospital for evaluation.
