An 83-year-old woman was killed following a crash on a rural highway in Coryell County Tuesday afternoon.

The incident occurred just after 1:30 p.m. near the intersection of Farm-to-Market road 116 and Coryell County road 145.

Dorothy Vinghouse Moore, 83, of Copperas Cove, was driving north on FM 116 in a 2001 Dodge pickup truck when she lost control of the vehicle causing it to veer off the paved surface, overturn and hit a tree.

Moore was pronounced dead at the scene by Coryell County Justice of the Peace Beverly Jones.

The Department of Public Safety report said she was not wearing a seat belt.

The victim’s body was taken to Scott’s Funeral Home, in Gatesville.
