A Texas man was injured following a semi-tractor trailer accident Tuesday afternoon on Interstate Highway 70 in Kansas.

According to a Kansas Highway Patrol report, the accident happened at about 3:10 p.m. on Interstate Highway 70 about five miles east of the Ellsworth-Russell county line.

A semi was travelling east in the passing lane when the driver’s attention was distracted. The semi left the road and struck a drainage culvert in a median before re-entering the road.

The driver, identified as Jody J. Penn, 41, of Irving, Texas, was not injured and was wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash.

The passenger, David Shea, 46, of Fort Worth, Texas, was transported to the Ellsworth County Health Center. There was no information about his condition.

The report stated that Shea was not wearing a seatbelt.
