The pilot of an ultralight was found dead in the plane wreckage in Limestone County on Monday.

The 69-year-old pilot, Darrell Gene Sorensen of Groesbeck, was operating the experimental Quicksilver Ultralight Sprint MX II when it went down in a field off of a private road near Limestone County Road 762 west of Lake Limestone.

Federal Aviation Administration in Fort Worth spokesman Lynn Lunsford said the agency was notified of the crash Monday morning.

The wreck was discovered a little before noon and Sorensen was pronounced dead at the scene by Limestone County Justice of the Peace Freda Gremminger.
