An afternoon motorcycle crash in the 400 block of south Fort Hood Street left a Fort Hood soldier dead on Sunday.

Killeen police said that at approximately 2 p.m., Fort Hood soldier, Timothy Laurence Singletary, was riding a motorcycle heading north on south Fort Hood St. just north of Hallmark when he crashed into a white Dodge Charger, which was pulling out of a parking lot in the 400 block of the street. The car attempted to make a left turn to go south when the bike struck the rear of the Charger near the center turn lane.

Upon impact, Singletary was thrown from the motorcycle and landed in the northbound lanes. He was lying in the roadway when a second vehicle traveling northbound, a white and red Honda Civic, failed to avoid the victim and ran over him.

Singletary was transported to the Carl R. Darnall Army Medical Center where he later died from his injuries at 2:41 p.m.

The Killeen Police Department Traffic Division continues investigation of the accident as of Monday.
