A teenager remains in critical condition Monday at a Houston hospital following a two vehicle crash Saturday evening.

Christopher Schultz, 16, of Caldwell, sustained a head injury after a crash that happened at around 8:45 p.m. Saturday in Burleson County near Lyons.

DPS said Schultz lost control of his vehicle as he traveled eastbound at a high rate of speed and veered into the path of a Dodge truck heading west.

Schultz was not wearing a seatbelt. He was transported to St. Joseph Hospital in Bryan where he underwent emergency surgery and was later flown to Texas Children’s Hospital.

The two people in the pickup were uninjured and were wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, DPS said.
