An 81-year-old man was killed following a wrong-way accident on Interstate 20 near Hideaway Lake Tuesday night.

At about 8:45 p.m., Albert Singler of Lindale, was driving a 2003 Toyota Tacoma on I20 when he moved into the westbound traffic and crashed head-on into an oncoming 1999 Ford F-250.

Singler was pronounced dead on the scene by Smith County Precinct 5 Judge James Cowart.

According to the Department of Public Safety, the impact caused the Ford to overturn.  The Ford’s driver and two passengers were injured and were transported to East Texas Medical Center where they were later released.

An 11-month-old baby in the Ford was properly restrained and was not hurt.
